Anne Bartley has worked in government, foundation and non-profit arenas. In 1974, she was the first woman in the Arkansas cabinet as the Director of the Natural and Cultural Heritage Foundation Department. Appointed by President Carter, she was a member of the national Neighborhood Commission. In 1979, then Governor Bill Clinton appointed her as the first Director of the Arkansas Washington office. From 1992 to 1994, she worked at the White House on Hillary Rodham Clinton’s staff. She has been on several foundations, including the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation in Arkansas as well as the Threshold, New World Foundations, and the Rockefeller Family Fund in New York. She presently works with the Jenifer Altman Foundation in California and the Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors in New York. She has also been involved in creating many non-profits, including the Faith and Politics Institute in Washington, D.C.
