Ellen Laipson

Ellen Laipson joined the Henry L. Stimson Center as President and Chief Executive Officer on April 1, 2002, after nearly 25 years of government service. At the National Intelligence Council (NIC), the U.S. Intelligence Community’s strategic analysis center, Ms. Laipson co-managed the interdisciplinary study “Global Trends 2015,” and directed the NIC’s outreach to think tanks and research organizations on a wide range of national security topics. Her earlier government career focused principally on analysis and policymaking on Middle Eastern and South Asian issues. Ms. Laipson has written articles and book reviews in Foreign Affairs, the Journal of International Affairs, the Washington
Quarterly, the Middle East Journal, Middle East Policy, the MESA Bulletin, and Mediterranean Quarterly, and has been a contributing author to books on the Middle East, Southwest Asia and the Mediterranean. She is a frequent speaker at symposia and conferences on Middle Eastern and global issues and on U.S. foreign policy.
