Mr. Janade du Plessis is an investment banker, private equity practitioner and social entrepreneur with a particular interest in community-based investing. His career has taken him to work as chief investment officer at the African Development Bank, associate at Gold Sachs and as a corporate finance transactor at Rand Merchant Bank (RMB). He is co-founder and executive member of Marang Capital Management, a multi-disciplinary private equity fund manager that manages funds in healthcare, fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) and social infrastructure.
Du Plessis is also the founder of Abrazo Capital, an impact investment fund based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Abrazo Capital started out as an investment vehicle whereby du Plessis and his network of angel investors invested in micro-and-small businesses in the townships of Johannesburg and Cape Town. With a renewed focus, Abrazo Capital is now in the capital raising process for its first impact fund to invest in social change programs and businesses that focuses on women and entrepreneurship, youth and skills development, and the elderly and social integration.
Finally, du Plessis is an executive coach with the International Coaching Federation (ICF). In this role he helps young, black entrepreneurs in South Africa establish and achieve goals in their personal and professional lives.
