Firelight Foundation

Firelight is a family foundation that makes grants to grassroots organizations addressing the needs of HIV/AIDS orphans and vulnerable children in Sub-Saharan Africa. For over 15 years, Ms. Astone has worked, researched, and volunteered for organizations focused on community-based development efforts in Africa. Her involvement’s include the Global Fund for Women, the African Development Foundation and the Peace Corps. In 1996, Ms. Astone received her doctorate in anthropology, focused on an intergenerational study of changing gender roles in agriculture in Guinea, West Africa.
