A San Francisco native and a Stanford University economics graduate, Lewis Coleman worked in the banking industry for 37 years. After 23 years with the Bank of California and Wells Fargo & Co., he moved on to Bank of America where he was head of its Capital Markets Group and its World Banking Group before becoming Vice Chairman of the Board and Chief Financial Officer. During the mid-1990s, he worked at Montgomery Securities. In December 2000, Mr. Coleman resigned as Chairman of Banc of America Securities (a subsidiary of BankAmerica Corporation) in order to head up the Foundation. He serves on the boards of Northrop Grumman, Chiron Corporation, The Komatsu International Advisory Board, Conservation International, the California Academy of Sciences, and is a National Director of Trout Unlimited.
