Michael Madnick

Deputy Director for External Relations, Global Health Policy and Advocacy,
Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

Michael Madnick is the Deputy Director for External Relations in Global Health Policy and Advocacy at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. In this role, Mr. Madnick is responsible for furthering the foundation’s major Global Health policy objectives by working with key governmental agencies, multilateral organizations, and other strategic partners. Prior to joining the foundation, Michael served as Senior Vice President at the United Nations Foundation. In this role, he institutionalized an organization-wide partnership approach to generate additional financial and other support for UN causes. To date, hundreds of millions of additional dollars have been raised for a myriad of UN activities, over and above Mr. Ted Turner’s incredible commitment of $1 billion. Mr. Madnick also served as Executive Director for CCS Fundraising’s Eastern and European Divisions. One of the most comprehensive and widely recommended fund-raising and nonprofit strategy firms in the world, CCS counsels leading nonprofits of all types. He is also an attorney and previously served as liaison to the executive office and Chief Compliance Officer of Ruesch International while in their employ. Mr. Madnick holds an undergraduate degree from the State University of New York at Albany, and a law degree from Pace University. In addition, he serves as a member of the Museum Board of Overseers at the Corcoran Gallery of Art, the Board of Directors for Blue Planet Run Foundation and also represents the foundation at a variety of forums on the subject of partnerships and philanthropy.
