Oksana Horbunova is a leading human rights advocate who has dedicated much of her life to combating the trafficking of women and children in Ukraine, Eastern Europe and throughout much of the world. At the International Organization for Migration, Ms. Horbunova worked with a number of grassroots organizations throughout Ukraine and Eastern Europe to combat the problem of human trafficking. She has brought international attention to the issue in Ukraine and has pressed her own government to pass legislation against trafficking. She testified before the US Congress in support of passage of the US’ groundbreaking anti-trafficking legislation, the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000. Ms. Horbunova also works with other women leaders to bring democracy to Ukraine.
